STAGE
Performance 「The Life of Hokusai」
Inspired by the life of the genius painter and pride of Japan, Katsushika Hokusai, The Life of Hokusai is an internationally-acclaimed performance art show. This visually stunning work originated an innovative new method of synchronizing live performance and state-of-the-art digital projection, or ‘projection live’ in Japanese. Using this unique method pioneered by internationally-renowned artist and performance veteran of 41 countries, Sakakura Katsumi, The Life of Hokusai, directed by and starring Katsumi himself, has had world-wide critical success.

EVENT
JAPAN PARADE
Japan Parade celebrates and further promotes cultural exchange and friendship between the USA and Japan, and takes place in May, which is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI). It is one of the largest Japan-related events outside Japan. In 2023, some 2,500 people in over 90 units participated in the parade, which marched more than a dozen blocks for about three hours along the west side of New York City’s Central Park, with approximately 50,000 people packing the streets.

MUSIC
ZIPANG OPERA
A music performance group formed by and starring the illustrious talents of: actor & singer Ryuji Sato “佐藤流司”, choreographer & actor Yuu Fukuzawa “福澤 侑”, musical actor “spi”, and Shinnosuke “心之介” a singer songwriter. The producer of ZIPANG OPERA is Go Ueki “植木 豪” who is also director and member of PainCrew, a B-boy breakdance performance group. Their work aims to encapsulate a sense of the Japanese cultural concept of “和” (harmony) in their fusion of various music styles such as EDM, electro-pop, alternative rock, rap and pop.

Theatre: 「The Garden Of Words 言の葉の庭」
A world premiere and Off West End award-nominated London production based on the anime masterpiece from Makoto Shinkai (Your Name., Suzume) & CoMix Wave Films. Co-Adapted by Susan Momoko Hingley & directed by our very own appare member Alexandra Rutter. Best known for pioneering the stage adaptation of Princess Mononoke, Rutter’s unique Anglo-Japanese collaboration garnered critical success and several Award Nominations.

THE FUJUNBUNGAKU GIRL’S MUSICAL REVUE
Based in the heart of the dynamic pop-culture and anime and manga entertainment district of Ikebukuro (Tokyo), comes the pop group THE FUJUNBUNGAKU GIRL’S MUSICAL REVUE. The company is developing globally with various approaches, disseminating IP content in the form of stories and characters from literature that is loved all over the world.
